What the exam is

Assam Police recruits Constables and Sub-Inspectors through a written examination paired with Physical Standard and Physical Efficiency Tests. Both stages eliminate independently — a strong written score does not carry you past the ground, and a fast race time does not carry you past the paper.

When it started

The force traces back to the police reorganisation that followed the Indian Police Act of 1861, and built its own establishment after Assam was separated from Bengal as a province in 1874. Recruitment today is run centrally by the State Level Police Recruitment Board rather than district by district.

Why it exists

Centralising recruitment under a single board answered the same problems ADRE later solved statewide: standards that differed between districts, notifications nobody could plan around, and a selection process that was difficult to audit. A common calendar and published physical standards fixed most of it.

What this course is.

Assam Police recruitment is a two-front exam. The written paper is a standard state GK-plus-aptitude paper. The Physical Standard and Efficiency Tests are where thousands of otherwise-prepared candidates are eliminated, and they are the part nobody plans for.

This programme runs written preparation and a structured physical-readiness schedule in parallel, with a monthly benchmark against the official PET standards for your category.

Assam Police — straight answers.

Do you conduct physical training on campus?

We provide the schedule, the standards, and monthly timed benchmarking. Daily physical practice is done on your own ground — we tell you exactly what to run and what to hit, and we test whether you did.

Are the standards different for each category?

Yes. Height, chest and race requirements differ by gender and category as per the official notification. Your benchmark sheet is set to your category from day one.

Is the SI paper harder than Constable?

The syllabus overlaps, but the SI paper goes deeper on reasoning and comprehension and the cut-off is materially higher. SI candidates take an extended aptitude track.
