what_it_is
This is foundation coaching rather than preparation for a single exam. Assam splits school examinations between SEBA at the secondary stage and AHSEC at higher secondary, and students now sit those boards while preparing for national entrance tests such as CUET and NDA in the same two years.
when_it_started
The Board of Secondary Education, Assam was constituted in 1962 under the Assam Secondary Education Act, 1961. The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council was established in 1984 to run the higher secondary stage separately. CUET arrived on top of both in 2022.
why_it_exists
What used to be sequential is now simultaneous — a student finishing class 12 is expected to hold board marks and an entrance rank at the same time. And an aspirant who starts APSC or ADRE preparation at 23 spends the first six months relearning class 9 to 12 material. Building that base early costs almost nothing at 15 and saves a year later.
