// preparation.plan

What the rules say about preparing.

Read straight off the advertisement above — arithmetic, not opinion.

01

The written test is the gate

Only the top 5x the posts by written marks are called to the PET. However strong your running, it counts for nothing unless the paper gets you there.

02

A wrong answer costs half a mark

Negative marking is ½ per wrong answer, so a blind guess between four options loses marks on average (+0.25 × 1 − 0.75 × 0.5 = −0.125). Guess only when you can rule out at least two options.

03

Written is 100 of 150

Two-thirds of the final merit is the paper. The PET adds 40, NCC and viva 5 each — prepare in that proportion.

04

Assam's history and culture is its own subject

One of the three subject groups is History and Culture of Assam and India — state history is named in the syllabus, not buried inside general knowledge.

How the course covers it

Written preparation and a physical-readiness schedule run in parallel, with a monthly timed benchmark against the official PET standards for your category and post. The unit plan is on the Assam Police course page.

Assam Police Sub-Inspector — straight answers.

Is there negative marking in the Assam Police SI exam?
Yes. In the December 2025 advertisement the written test is 100 questions of one mark each, with half a mark deducted for every wrong answer.
What is the age limit for Assam Police SI?
20 to 26 on 1 January 2026, raised to 27 for the unreserved category in this cycle, with 5 years' relaxation for SC/ST and 3 for OBC/MOBC.
Does the SI written test come before or after the physical test?
Before. The written test is first, and only the top five times the number of posts in each category, by written marks, are called for the PET and PST.
What was the Assam Police SI cut-off in the last recruitment?
In the CWT-2025 written test of 5 January 2025, the SI (UB) cut-off for unreserved candidates was 65.50 for men and 55.00 for women, out of 100. Every category is in the table on this page.
Is the Commando Battalion SI (AB) the same recruitment?
No. SI (AB) in the Assam Commando Battalions had its own advertisement in December 2025 — 47 posts, a lower age limit and a taller height standard. This page covers SI (UB) in Assam Police.
