SSC & Other Competitive coaching.

SSC CGL, CHSL and MTS preparation built on the three things that decide the tier-1 cut-off: quant speed, reasoning accuracy, and general awareness recall.

What SSC & Other Competitive actually is.

Before the syllabus: what this exam selects for, when it started, and the problem it was created to solve.

what_it_is

What the exam is

The Staff Selection Commission recruits for Group B and Group C posts across central government ministries. CGL fills graduate-level posts such as Inspector, Assistant and Auditor; CHSL fills 12th-pass clerical posts; MTS covers multi-tasking staff. All of them run as multi-tier computer-based tests with sectional timing.

when_it_started

When it started

The commission was set up on 4 November 1975 as the Subordinate Services Commission, and renamed the Staff Selection Commission in 1977. Its examinations moved to a fully computer-based, multi-tier format from 2016.

why_it_exists

Why it exists

Ministries were each hiring for their own lower-tier posts — slow, uneven, and impossible for a candidate to prepare for coherently. One commission with a fixed syllabus made central government jobs reachable by open competition from anywhere in the country, including from a district in Assam.

// overview

What this course is.

SSC is a pattern exam. The syllabus barely moves year to year; what moves is your speed. Tier-1 is won by candidates who have seen the question type enough times to recognise it in four seconds and skip it in two when it is a trap.

The programme is drill-heavy by design: concept, then technique, then volume, then timed sectional tests. Tier-2 candidates continue into advanced quant and English.

// exam_faq

SSC & Other Competitive — straight answers.

Does this cover CHSL and MTS as well as CGL?
Yes. The core is shared across CGL, CHSL and MTS; CGL candidates continue into advanced quant and tier-2 English while CHSL and MTS candidates go deeper on speed and general awareness.
How much daily practice is expected?
Two hours of drilling outside class, minimum. SSC is not a knowledge problem, it is a repetition problem, and there is no version of this that works without the reps.
Is the test series on a CBT interface?
Yes — full-length mocks run on a computer-based interface so the exam-day environment is not new to you.
