What Railway actually is.

Before the syllabus: what this exam selects for, when it started, and the problem it was created to solve.

what_it_is

What the exam is

Railway Recruitment Boards fill technical and non-technical posts across Indian Railways. NTPC covers station masters, clerks and traffic assistants; Group D covers track and technical support staff; ALP covers assistant loco pilots. Selection runs through staged computer-based tests followed by a skill or physical test.

when_it_started

When it started

The first Railway Service Commission was established in 1942. The commissions were reorganised as Railway Recruitment Boards in 1985, and twenty-one of them now operate across the country. Examinations moved to computer-based testing from around 2016.

why_it_exists

Why it exists

Indian Railways is one of the largest employers in the world and routinely receives applications in the crores. Regional boards running a shared syllabus, then staged computer tests across many shifts with scores normalised between them, is what that scale forced — and it is why understanding normalisation matters to your score.

// overview

What this course is.

Railway recruitment runs in stages, and each stage filters differently. CBT-1 is a speed screen. CBT-2 tests depth. The skill test or PET that follows is pass-or-out. Preparing for all three as one undifferentiated syllabus is the standard mistake.

This programme sequences the stages, with normalisation-aware test analysis so you know where your score actually sits across shifts.

Railway — straight answers.

What is normalisation and does it matter?
RRB exams run across multiple shifts of varying difficulty, and raw scores are normalised. It matters because your raw mock score means nothing without knowing the shift difficulty — our analysis reports both.
Is Group D preparation different from NTPC?
Group D is a single CBT plus PET, weighted towards general science and reasoning. NTPC runs two CBTs with a higher maths and awareness bar. Shared core, different depth.
Do you cover the ALP technical papers?
We cover CBT-1 and the non-technical portions of CBT-2 fully. Trade-specific technical papers are supported with guidance and material rather than full classroom coverage.
