The minimum earns 10 marks; below it you are eliminated on the spot. Marks rise on a sliding scale up to the full-marks line. Races are timed with RFID chips under CCTV; the long jump takes the best of three attempts.

Medical standards, and the PET for the other post, are on the Assam Police physical test page.

// preparation.plan

What the rules say about preparing.

Read straight off the advertisement above — arithmetic, not opinion.

01

Your PET score decides whether you sit the paper

The written test is only for the top 5x the posts, ranked by PET marks. A candidate who scrapes through the race at the minimum may never see the question paper — train for marks, not for the qualifying time.

02

There is no negative marking

100 questions at half a mark each, nothing deducted for a wrong answer. Leave nothing blank: a guess can only add marks.

03

Class IX–X is the ceiling

The Board sets the paper at Class IX and X level. Your school textbooks for arithmetic and English are the right depth; graduate-level material is time you do not have.

04

The PET is 40 of 100 marks for UB, 60 of 115 for AB men

Physical marks carry through to the final merit list, so every second off the race and every centimetre on the jump is worth as much as a correct answer.

How the course covers it

Written preparation and a physical-readiness schedule run in parallel, with a monthly timed benchmark against the official PET standards for your category and post. The unit plan is on the Assam Police course page.

Assam Police Constable — straight answers.

What is the difference between Constable (AB) and Constable (UB)?
AB is the Armed Branch and UB the Unarmed Branch. UB needs HS (Class XII) and AB needs HSLC (Class X). Men applying for AB also take chin-ups in the PET, which makes their PET worth 60 marks instead of 40.
Is there negative marking in the Assam Police Constable written test?
No. In the December 2025 advertisement the written test is 100 multiple-choice questions at half a mark each — 50 marks — with no negative marking.
What is the height required for Assam Police Constable?
162.5 cm for men and 154 cm for women in the General, OBC/MOBC and SC categories; 160 cm and 152 cm for ST (P) and ST (H). Men also need a chest of 80 cm with 5 cm expansion (78 cm for ST (H)).
What is the age limit for Assam Police Constable?
18 to 25 on 1 January 2026, raised to 26 for the unreserved category in this cycle, with 5 years' relaxation for SC/ST and 3 for OBC/MOBC.
Do you conduct physical training on campus?
We provide the schedule, the standards and monthly timed benchmarking. Daily physical practice is done on your own ground — we tell you exactly what to run and what to hit, and we test whether you did.
