Daily Current Affairs — August 2026, Week 2
State, national and international developments for the week, with the five items most likely to appear in an objective paper flagged.
The headline change in ADRE 2.0 is not the syllabus — it is the weighting. Assam-specific General Knowledge now carries enough of the paper that a candidate strong on national GK and weak on state GK cannot clear the cut-off by volume alone. That single shift should reorganise your study plan.
The second change is in how the paper punishes speed without accuracy. With negative marking applied across the objective sections, the difference between attempting 90 and attempting 78 questions is frequently negative for the candidate who attempted more.
Move Assam GK to the front of your schedule and keep it there. It is the only section where a fixed, finite body of material converts almost directly into marks — and unlike current affairs, it does not decay between the day you learn it and the day you sit the paper.
If you are three months out and your Assam GK is not already on its second revision, that is the problem to fix this week. Everything else can wait a fortnight. This cannot.
Treat every uncertain question as a bet with a known price. If you can eliminate two of four options, a guess is usually worth taking. If you cannot eliminate anything, it is not — and the candidates who internalise that difference are the ones whose mock scores stop swinging fifteen marks between attempts.
Our ADRE test series is built to force this habit: every paper is followed by an analysis of the questions you should have skipped, not just the ones you got wrong. Those are two different lists, and the second one is where the marks are.
That is the structure of the ADRE course we run at Zoo Road. If you are preparing on your own, copy the sequence — particularly the part where Assam GK gets revised three times and the test series starts before you feel ready for it.
